Printables and Educational Materials
This pack contains everything your child might need to know about the community around them from the community helpers, the places in the community, to what a community is, to reading traffic signs, and more!
This activity pack is designed to help your child or student learn about the community helpers all around them in the community they live in. This pack is designed to help them research and discuss the various community helpers and their jobs.
This community themed coloring pack will help your child find the places in the community around them form police stations to fire stations to the post office and more.
All communities are made up of citizens. This educational printable discusses and includes activities on how to be a good citizen.
Part of learning about any community is learning about the people that protect it. Firefighters protect all communities. I created this fun emergent reader to introduce young readers to firefighters.
As you learn about firefighters, you might find that your community has a Fire Safety Week. We live in what is called the Wildland-Urban Interface Zone. This is a fancy way of saying that all those nasty wildfires you see on the news for Southern California can happen in our community. I created this fun pack for kindergarten through 2nd graders to leave about basic fire safety and firefighters.
AS part of fire safety week I created this fun experiment for children and students to help them learn about the basics of fire safety.
Storybook Themed Fun
Poppins Book Nook: What I Want to Be When I Grow Up
With the monthly virtual book club, Poppins Book Nook, the August 2014 topic was What Will I Be When I Grow Up? This theme was filed with community themed learning. You can find a fun lapbook idea about this topic HERE. My entry for the month of August 2014 also dealt with the community around us and what my children want to be when they grow up and is based on a special book: Froggy’s Trip to the Doctor. You can read all about it HERE.
Poppins Book Nook: School
The monthly topic of School was used by the Septmber 2013 Poppins Book Nook. In this month’s installment I discussed back to school and created two great printables. These two printables were:
Librarian Interview Questions – This fun activity gets your child or students thinking about what a librarian is and how important they are to a community.
Road Trip Car Games – This fun printable is designed for you and your children to play bingo with road signs. This is a fun community game because as you drive around your community there are sure to be road signs everywhere.
