I hope that you and your children are having fun learning alongside the Poppins Book Nook participants. Last month we explored and created storybook activities themed to Newbery Medal Books. This month’s new theme is Artists. Artists are important to storybooks. They can help bring the story and the author’s ideas to life with vivid images. With that in mind, why not take a look at artists who help bring storybooks to life or, how about an artist that brings joy to you at Christmas time through a special holiday ornament?
Looking for a fun way to learn about artists in the world around us both in days past and present? I have TWO unique and original art curricula that do just that for you and your children to enjoy!
Storybook Artist Unit Studies Curriculum
Teaching about artists does not have to be black and white and can be done in a colorful and fun way. I created my Storybook Artist Unit Studies Curriculum to help teach my children about art with a fun twist by providing an art study that goes behind the storybook and focuses on the artists behind the images. This curriculum has 92 lessons that can done singly or a handful at a time.
Here are a few small sneak peeks into just a pinch of the storybook art fun happening in my original curriculum:
- Storybook Artist Eric Carle
- Storybook Artist: Nancy Ekholm Burkert
- Storybook Artist: Ashley Bryan
- Storybook Artist: Quentin Blake
- Storybook Artist: Mitsumasa Anno
Exploring Hallmark Keepsake Ornament Artists Series
With autumn waning and the Holidays coming up, I can think of no better way to dive into and learn about artists then with my hands-on lessons from my Exploring Hallmark Keepsake Ornament Artists Series! This fun art series dives into the artists that create the fun and imaginative Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments. Each artist in this series takes a look at the talents of the ornament artists and their work, has multiple lessons about each of the artists, and has hands-on fun that you and your children can use to mimic and create their own hands-on art inspired by the work of each artist. Why not take a look and see if there is some Hallmark Keepsake Ornament Artist fun that you can have learning about the artist of Hallmark?
