Welcome and thank you for stopping by to see how to include a fun DIY Kids Christmas Butterfly Poinsettia Votive inspired by the Light and Love ornament by Joanne Eschrich for the August 2015 Featured Artist as part of the Hallmark Keepsake Ornament Club into your arts and craft lessons. This fun kids hands-on craft focuses on lightening up the holidays, just like the ornaments the artist who was inspired to the inspirational Light and Love ornament did for Christmas. I love poinsettias at Christmas time, so I used this ornament as the inspiration to create this hands-on project as we learn all about Joanne Eschrich as an ornament artist as part of the Exploring Hallmark Keepsake Ornament Artist Series for the August 2015 monthly Featured Keepsake Ornament Artist.
Poinsettias are a bright and colorful part of Christmas. For my family it is also traditional to display them around the house and property at Christmas time too. With that in mind I wanted to convert Joanne Eschrich’s Light and Love ornament into a fun DIY Kids Christmas Butterfly Poinsettia Votive project for this month’s easy hands-on craft project for this month’s Featured Keepsake Ornament Artist.
To make your own DIY Kids Christmas Poinsettia Votive for this month’s Featured Keepsake Ornament Artist you will need the following materials and supplies:
- Mod Podge (Matte Finish)
- Foam Brush
- Butterfly Stamp and Punch (Martha Stewart)
- Tissue Paper (Red and Gold Metallic)
- Clear Glass Votive Candle Holder
- Battery Powered Tea Light
- Metallic Gold Acrylic Paint Pen
Start by getting all your materials ready. Select your foam brush to fit into your Mod Podge jar and that will not be too large for your votive candle holder.
Cut your metallic gold tissue paper into small squares to match the size of your butterflies.
Use your Martha Stewart Butterfly Stamp and Punch to make red tissue paper butterflies. Make as many as you wish.
Use your foam brush to apply mod podge over the gold metallic squares and red stamper butterflies. Apply them to all four sides of your glass votive, but make sure that on one side you leave a little bit of room to write and inspirational quote. Then, on the last side where you left room for an inspiration message, use your metallic gold acrylic paint pen to write your message. We really like the Light and Love ornament so we chose to write Light & Love. Allow the modge podge and paint to completely dry.
Voila! Add your battery powered tea light and you DIY Kids Christmas Butterfly Poinsettia Votive is now ready to display or be given as a gift from the heart inspired by the talents of Joanne Eschrich!
