Octonauts – Crocodiles & Crabs!
Is your child familiar with the Octonauts series? I know that my children have enjoyed following along with Captain Barnacles and his crew of Octonauts as they adventure around the seas and oceans of the world. This awesome DVD comes packed with not one or two, but eight awesome Octonauts episodes that include lots of fun too. The episodes that this DVD comes with are:
- Decorator Crab
- Enemy Anemones
- Fiddler Crabs
- Giant Spider Crab
- Hermit Crab
- Saltwater Crocodile
- Slime Eels
- Snapping Shrimp
As is the usual with the Octonauts, each episode is jam-packed full of fun, educational facts about the creatures the crew encounter on their adventures through the seas and oceans. A synopsis of the episodes included is as follows:
When things go missing, the Octonauts stake out the thief and encounter a Decorator Crab.
This episode is a double feature of sorts. As the Octonauts land on an island for a fun picnic and help out some crabs, their partners back on the Octopod deal with an out-of-control problem of their own.
The Octopod gets damaged during a storm and ends up on a beach, lost amongst other marine debris. The Octonauts clean up the beach whilst searching for their parts and must interact with fiddler crabs and hijinks abound.
Giant Spider Crab
The Octonauts help a 100-year-old spider crab on the way to his 100th birthday party. It turns out that some of the Octonauts are afraid, but they find the courage to help in the end.
With half the Octonauts stranded due to a low tide, Peso and Tweak help a stranded hermit crab from the shell it has outgrown.
The Octonauts help a lost Australian saltwater crocodile find its way home from the Antarctic Ocean.
Kwazii searches a sunken shipwreck of his pirate grandfather’s to search for his grandfather’s golden spyglass that is being guarded by some slime eels.
The Octonauts are unexpectedly stunned by a new and small friend with a powerful claw.
Want to have some hands-on fun with the Octonauts and one of these fun episodes from the DVD? Then why not make your very own Easy Spitting Slime Eels Kids Activity to go along with the Slime Eels episode that will have your children or students running about, laughing, giggling, and getting fun exercise too!
Easy Spitting Slime Eels Kids Activity
Are you ready to have some hands-on fun with the Octonauts? Then why make this fun kid’s craft and then let them loose to have as much fun as they can!
In order to make your own Easy Spitting Slime Eel Kids Activity, you will need the following materials for each child or student:
- Pipe Insulation (it is already black)
- Can of Silly String
- Pipe Cleaner, Blue
- Blue and White Puffy Paint
Start by selecting a small size of the pipe insulation to use as your Slime Eel’s head. The insulation is easily cut with scissors. Then, trim your pipe cleaners into small sections to make its antennas. Then, decorate your head by pushing the pipe cleaners into the front edge, making sure the opening in the insulation is down.
Then, use your blue and while puffy paint to decorate the Slime Eel head how you think it would look based on when you watched the Slime Eels episode on the DVD. Now, once the puffy paint is dry you can simply spread the head open a little and place it loosely on top of the silly spray can and use it like a hand puppet.
Now, when you spray the silly spray it will look like Your Slime Eel is spitting, just like they did in the Octonauts episode.
Then it is simply a matter of finding a fun and safe place to play, chase each other, and have fun! Caution: please follow all the guidelines, safety instructions, and by all means, do not use the silly string in any manner it is not intended for.
