Now that spring is in full swing, my kids are having a great time watching (and trying to identify) all the birds that visit our yard! All our birds inspired these colorful kid-made birds created from an egg carton!

Adorable egg carton birds kids craft... So cute that you will end up making a whole little flock of colorful birds!

To make these cute little birds you need to gather some supplies: an empty egg carton, paint, medium sized pom poms, googly eyes, orange felt, and feathers! Of course you need to grab some paint brushes, scissors, and glue as well. Start by cutting the cups off the egg carton to turn into your bird’s body. Paint them whatever color you like; my kids decided to make some fantastical birds (that’s right, there will be no identifying these birds)

Once dry, you can choose heads (pom poms) and tails (feathers). Each head will need a pair of googly eyes and a small orange felt triangle for a beak. I found it easiest to glue these onto the head before gluing the head to the bird’s body. All gluing was done with hot glue; craft glue would work too but would take a lot longer to dry. If you do want the kids to use craft glue I would probably have them glue the faces on and then wait until they dried to glue the rest of it together. Apparently I was feeling brave because I let the girls use the hot glue gun!

After your bird’s little faces are put together you can glue them to the egg carton. Then just add your tail feathers! You could probably add some cute little wing feathers too, but my kids were not interested in wings just colorful tails!

And here is the whole crazy flock of birds my kids created!

I just love all the springy colors they used; if only the birds in our backyard were this colorful!
