This is a fun bookmark that you and your child can make together to make summer reading cool! I plan to make a reward system for my kids this summer where for every popsicle they turn in they will receive one special prize.
Whether their special prize is a day trip of their choice, selection of the family movie at our weekly family movie night, a new comic book, etc. I love this idea to help keep track of the kids summer reading log, help make setting summer reading goals fun, and it will make the incentive to read even more fun for the kids since they will get a prize when they have filled up their popsicle bookmarks.
Here are the materials that you will need to create your own Easy DIY Kids Summer Reading Popsicle Bookmark:
- Felt (any color, we used white glitter felt to make it look icy)
- Scissors (I love using my Fiskar scissors when cutting felt)
- Hot glue gun and glue
- Craft glue
- Popsicle stick
First, cut out two identical shapes out of the felt you choose to use.
Then, using your hot glue gun, adhere both sides of your popsicle together by placing the wooden popsicle stick in the middle.
Lastly, trace an outline of the popsicle shape you made on construction paper and draw lines for your child or student to write their books on. Then, lightly glue the construction paper onto the backside of your popsicle with craft glue.
As you can see, this might look like a simple bookmark, but it can be much more fun than just a piece of paper that keeps track of your summer reading!
