March is here and tons of local stores are carrying fun decorations and items that you can easily turn into a fun seasonal activity. Here’s a fun Shamrock Counting Math Activity I created using a few items from my local Target’s dollar section.
- Felt shamrock banner
- Gold shamrock necklace
- Permanent marker
To create a simple, cheap, but fun counting game using the felt shamrock banner cut all the shamrocks off the ribbon that it’s attached too. Using a black permanent marker write numbers one through ten and on the other side numbers eleven through twelve.
To create fun counting pieces cut all the gold shamrocks off the necklace. These make great seasonal counting manipulatives.
Allow your child to count across 1-10 while laying down each numbered shamrock. Let your child use their gold shamrock pieces to count the amount of shamrocks under each number.
This is a great seasonal game that can help your child learn number recognition and counting. Make sure to use the back side of the shamrock to add more numbers for practice. To add some fun fine motor skills, give your child a pair of small tongs to pick up the shamrocks as they count.
What number can your child count up to?
