Welcome and thank you for stopping by to see how my children were inspired by the Rich “Uncle” Pennybags and Monopoly ™ Ornaments by Rodney Gentry for the March 2015 Featured Artist for the Hallmark Keepsake Ornament Club. We used two different ornaments because we will be making a hands-on craft that focuses on the iconic hat. We are learning about Rodney Gentry as an ornament artist as part of the Exploring Hallmark Keepsake Ornament Artist Series for the March 2015 monthly Featured Keepsake Ornament Artist.

Rich “Uncle” Pennybags and Monopoly™ Inspired Kids Ornament

We are a family that loves to play games. We can have fun with a card game or a complicated game. Rodney Gentry is known for his game inspired Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments. My children have also taken to playing Monopoly™ and they can have hours of fun playing. They have even started playing different variants, including their own. With that in mind, it was only natural to pick the Monopoly™ and Rich “Uncle” Pennybags ornaments by Rodney Gentry. Instead of focusing on one ornament or the other, we chose as a family to focus on the iconic hat that the character wears. There are many ways to make your own version of this ornament, but here are the materials and methods that my daughter Elizabeth, son Beck, and I used as we made our own Rodney Gentry Rich “Uncle” Pennybags ornament inspired my Monopoly™.

Materials Needed:

To make your own Rich “Uncle” Pennybags and Monopoly™ themed ornament for this month’s Featured Keepsake Ornament Artist  you will need the following materials:

Start with the empty and clean pudding cup. Make sure that you have fun emptying out the pudding cup. Clean it out and makes sure that it is completely dry. Once it is dry, flip it upside down.

Next, spray the cup with a light coat of Spray Glue. After you spray the hat, cover it in black glitter while the glue is still wet so that it can stick to the craft. Allow it to completely dry.

Once the spray glue and glitter have completely dried, carefully shake off the excess glitter over and into a trash can. Then, cut out a thin strip of green felt and carefully use hot glue to attach it to the bottom of the hat to make the brim stand out.

This fun ornament would not be complete without a way to display it. Carefully use hot glue to attach your Ornament Hook to the top of it.
