One of our family’s favorite holiday books and movies is the Polar Express. It is a family tradition in our household and is read and watched multiple times during the holiday season. One of our favorite parts of the story is the hot chocolate scene. Each child in the story is unique, so no matter which child you are like at heart, everyone loves hot chocolate!

Homemade Polar Express Hot Chocolate

With that in mind, why not try this delicious recipe for Homemade Polar Express Hot Chocolate? Have some fun in the kitchen, as a family, making a delicious brew just like the children enjoyed on the Polar Express! Follow these fun directions to enjoy your own delicious cup of hot, hot, hot, HOT CHOCOLATE! We love peanut butter cups, so when I created this hot chocolate recipe years ago I was very pleased because the hot chocolate not only tastes like a peanut butter cup, but also smells like a peanut butter cup too!

Ingredients:

To make your own Homemade Polar Express Hot Chocolate you will need the following ingredients to make a batch that can split into four 8-ish ounce mugs, and the best part is that these might even already be in your cupboard, pantry, and refrigerator are well:

The first thing to do is to make sure you have enough milk. Elizabeth and Beck both wanted to make sure we had enough milk by measuring carefully.

Then it was time to carefully mix the sugar, milk, and cocoa. Beck and Elizabeth took turns combining the ingredients carefully. Elizabeth decided to be the mixing and Beck the measuring.

With the stove set to medium, Elizabeth carefully used her whisk to mix all the ingredients together and create our delicious Polar Express Hot Chocolate.

After about four minutes it was time for Beck to add the peanut butter.  Then, Elizabeth continued to mix for about 2 more minutes.

The only thing left to do was to allow it to cool and enjoy! If you want to flavor your own variety of Polar Express Hot Chocolate then it is very easy to do as well. At various points you can add sprinkles, vanilla, mint, etc.
