Are you learning about the community all around you in your lessons? I would like to introduce you to my new free community themed learning unit. This comprehensive printable will help teach your child or students about everything in the community around them from community helpers; to places in the community; to what it means to be a good citizen in your community; to traffic signs; and more! I created this unit with my 3rd grade daughter in mind to use this school year.

My Community Resource Pack - Enchanted Homeschooling Mom

So, after practicing your community skills with my FREE My Community Coloring Pack are you ready to learn more about the community around you? Then please take a look at what my 85+ page All About My Community Pack has to offer you as part of my community themed learning in your studies of the community around you.

My Community Resource Pack - Enchanted Homeschooling Mom

In the All About My Community Pack you will find the following learning elements to help you teach your child or students about the community all around them that they live in:

K-W-L Chart

This activity is designed to illustrate what your child or student knows, wants to know, and has learned about the community around them and its elements.

Community Sight Words

This activity is full of sight words themed to the community.  Included is instructions on how to set-up up and use the community themed sight words in a word wall.

My Community Words Book

This activity is designed to help reinforce the Community Sight Words and Sight Word Wall through a series of activities involving the selected sight words.  The activities then combine into a book for ease of use and review of the sight words it contains.

Pocket Chart Vocabulary

This activity is a series of words and their definitions set-up to be used with a pocket chart.  If you do not have one you can see how to use one HERE. But do not fear though, if you do not want or are not comfortable using a pocket chart you can simply attach them to your wall in your school area too. This activity even includes a quiz as well.

This activity is designed to help teach your child or student about the differences and similarities between the settings of urban, rural, and suburban.  The lessons are fun and enticing to children to help them reinforce and learn their knowledge of these three settings.

Observations – A Day In My Community

This activity is designed to have your child or student observe their community.  Then, as they witness and make observations about the various parts of their community they can write down what they see, think, and feel about the various community elements included in the activity.

A Day in the Life of a Good Citizen

This activity is designed to help teach your child or student about what your family believes a good citizen is.  Your child or student can draw pictures and explain what they are all about.

Jobs in the Community

This activity is designed to help your child or students practice their coloring skills, art skills, tracing skills, and determine what jobs can be done in those parts of your community.

When I Grow Up

This activity is designed to help your child or student start to think about what they want to be when they grow up.

Descriptive Writing

Exercises are included to help your child or students work on their descriptive words in relation to the community around them. Activities are included that focus on adjectives and descriptive writing.

Emergency Information

Activities are included to teach your children and students about their personal information and the important emergency contacts for people in their lives. These activities will not only help them remember and reinforce their own information, but also will help them learn about emergency personnel and what information they may need to assist them in an emergency.

Compass Rose Activities

Included are activities to help your child learn about maps, how to read maps, and about how community elements relate to each other using the compass rose.

Traffic Signs

This activity is designed to teach your child or students about traffic signs from what they are to what they mean to what they look like.
