I would like to take the opportunity to introduce you to the Fort Magic Fort Building & Construction Toy Kit for Kids by Fort Magic, where you can build a fort as big as your imagination! Fort Magic is a new, unique, and creative fort building system for children that allows them to create 3-dimensional forts to bring their imaginations to life. There is truly no limit to the hours of excitement that your children can get from creating their life-sized, 3-dimensional forts to play in and with. The included Instruction Manual helps guide your children in the assembly of multiple fort designs, but the best part about the Fort Magic Fort Building & Construction Toy Kit for Kids by Fort Magic is that the parts themselves steer your children to bring their imaginations to life however they want to.
Before I get much further into this review I would like to say that I was given a free copy of the Fort Magic Fort Building & Construction Toy Kit for Kids by Fort Magic to assist me in this review. For full details read my disclosures found HERE.
After getting the Fort Magic Fort Building & Construction Toy Kit for Kids by Fort Magic I quite literally lost the use of my family room for a few weeks as my children, 7 and 9, made fort after fort after creation of their own. They would build one fort then get inspired to bring their paly time to life, and even built a tent to campout in the family room for a whole weekend with that fit them both with their sleeping bags, clothes, toys, and of course, the dogs. We like to incorporate a lot of storybooks into our homeschooling lessons and my children love to act them out, play like the characters in their stories, and general use storybooks for expanding their imaginations. The Fort Magic Fort Building & Construction Toy Kit for Kids by Fort Magic instantly became a hit in our home from the moment it was opened. Now that the initial newness is over, my children are still finding ways to have fun with their forts. The best aspect of this product from their stand point, and mine, is that all of their creations are life-sized and not smaller models. They are always building tunnels to crawl through and chase the dogs around, or a castle to defend, or even a boat to paddle each other around the room in just like they are learning in their storybooks. Please let me show you how much fun they had.
First and foremost my when I got the package in the mail it was very impressive. The design of the box is colorful and informative and the parts contained inside are very sturdy, colorful, organized, and easily distinguishable. Being a family with an engineer for a husband and two children that love Lego, I was hoping this would be a hit and it definitely was. About the time I was done looking at the outside of the box was when the children noticed it was a fort building toy and for them. It was then immediately time for me to open the box so they could start playing. They started by organizing the parts in a big pile, go figure. Once all the parts where out of the bag they immediately started looking through the included instruction manual to find their first creation to build. Due to the parts being designed for children to assemble, from that point forward I was basically not needed, except to help them color their creations because they could not reach the tops of some of them because they are life-sized.
Can kids really use it on their own?
I was a little skeptical myself as to whether or not my children could connect the pieces together. I was absolutely thrilled that the instruction manual has pages dedicated to making the parts connect together. These pages are clear and make especially for children. The instructions are simple, safe, and easy for kid’s hands to use. Since the parts interconnect and then disassemble, the frames and your own creations can be built with speed once your children get the hang of it.
What sets Fort Magic part?
Kids love to build forts! There’s no doubt about it. My children have been asking for almost a year for my husband to build them a tree fort, but unfortunately the trees around here are old and beautiful, so not too safe, but we are working on that for next summer. But, with a Fort Magic Fort Building & Construction Toy Kit for Kids by Fort Magic they are happily creating and inventing for hours and days at a time the lessons from their favorite storybooks. Whether they are building designs from the colorful Fort Magic Instruction Manual or working together on something from their imagination, they are both working together to build their life-sized creations. Then, they play with them for as long as they want. I have witnessed them modify and re-build some creations and then expand on ones in the Instruction Manual too. The options included in the Fort Magic Fort Building & Construction Toy Kit for Kids by Fort Magic are only limited by the imagination of its users. The combination of using their creative and developing their motor skills means that even though they are playing, they are also learning together as well.
Safety first, right, so is Fort Magic safe?
Because this is a building toy I wanted to make sure that the Fort Magic Fort Building & Construction Toy Kit for Kids by Fort Magic is indeed safe to play with. Even though it is U.S. Patented, is it safe for its intended use, by children? Fort Magic is dedicated to making sure their products are safe and enjoyable for children to use. Included in the colorful Instruction Manual are safety instructions. They are presented in a fun way so that children can understand them. Fort Magic has gone thought rigorous testing, with the highest of standards, to ensure every safety measure has been met. Every test has been performed by a third party independent lab approved by the Consumer Products Safety Commission of the United States. You can find out more on the Fort Magic Safety Tips page.

The instruction manual comes with over 20 ideas, but you can also make your own. Here are some of the frames and creative designs Beck and Elizabeth came up with while using our Fort Magic Fort Building & Construction Toy Kit for Kids by Fort Magic:
Make a Canoe
To tie in with their lessons on Lewis and Clark, the children used the Fort Magic Instruction Booklet to make the canoe. They ended up not wanting to cover this frame. Here is what it looked like while they were making it and playing with it, including the paddle and fishing pole too:
Make a Car
Since we are reading storybooks about transportation, planes, trains, and automobiles it was only fitting that the children used the Fort Magic Instruction Booklet to make the car. Again, they ended up not wanting to cover this frame either. They even took turns holding this one up while they raced around a course they set-up like in the Berenstain Bears and the Great Big Race. Here is what it looked like while they were making it and playing with it:
Original Creation – Dog Wash
Having five dogs in our house, there is no way to keep them from having fun with us, especially when Elizabeth’s favorite stories involve the Pokey Little Puppy. That little puppy, just like our puppies, is always getting into messes. So, what better way to clean them up then by modifying a playhouse fort into a Dog Wash.? Here is their fun adaption of some of the frame designs in the instruction manual that Beck and Elizabeth converted into a dog wash. I do not know who had more fun in the Dog Wash Fort, the kids or the dogs, but here is what it looked like while they were making it and playing with it:
Original Creation – Go-Cart
The children had so much fun with the car and race car frames that they decided to make a mini-car so that they could race some more like in their car storybooks. With the help of my husband they came up with this compact Go-Cart frame. They again had fun racing around with these coverless frames and even brought some of our dogs along for the races too! As an added bonus I created an instruction sheet for anyone who wants to use this frame creation. Here is what it looked like while they were making it and playing with it:

Original Creation – House Tent
With the children very much wanting to make a tent and do a sleepover, they came up with this fun frame and covered it with sheets using the Fort Magic Fabric Clips. Once it was all done they literally used it all one weekend to play in, sleep in, read books in, and basically campout in the family room for a weekend of fun. It is a slight variation on the instructions for the Fort Magic Playhouse. Here is what it looked like while they were making it and playing with it:
Make a Mini-Ship (Pirate Ship)
Ye-vast ye hardies! Batten down the main hatch! Shiver me timbers! As big time pirate fans, the children wanted to make the mini ship frame, or as they called it, the pirate ship frame. Using the Fort Magic Instruction Booklet, the children made easily made their pirate ship frame. They read a few of their pirate books for inspiration and then after attaching some sheets and blankets with the fabric clips it was time for hours of plundering, fighting, and swapping the decks. Here is what it looked like while they were making it and playing with it:
Make a Race Car
Again, we have been reading a lot of books on transportation, racing, cards, planes, and trains. Although they did make the car frame and their own Go-Cart, they still wanted to also make the race car frame. Using the Fort Magic Instruction Booklet, the children easily made the race car frame. Again, they ended up not wanting to cover this one either as they wanted to start racing around a course they laid out like in their Berenstain Bears and the Great Big Race storybook. They had a blast trying to see who could complete the course without crashing in the fastest time. I believe that their puppy Max and lab Moo-Moo won each time. Here is what it looked like while they were making it and playing with it:
Make a Tent
One of the first creations the children wanted to make was a tent. This was a basic build, but they had fun playing explorers with it. Just like with the canoe, they have been learning all about Lewis and Clark and they wanted to see what a tent would be like. After this one was covered, Elizabeth and our lab Moo-Moo had the most fun playing explores in this one. Here is what it looked like while they were making it and playing with it:
Original Creation – Tunnels
Once the children got the hang of the frame assembly and realized they could make anything they wanted, they got inspiration from some of their storybooks that they are reading and had a blast making tunnels systems. They varied the designs a lot and at times had large parts of the house engaged in play time, but they were having a blast. After they covered their tunnels they had hours of fun and a lot of days chasing each other, playing hide-n-seek, and playing with the dogs in them too. I can see this being repeated over-and-over throughout time as our Fort Magic Fort Building & Construction Toy Kit for Kids by Fort Magic will be seeing a lot of use. Here is what it looked like while they were making their tunnels and playing with them:
Fort Magic has some great videos on their YouTube Channel to help you visualize how some forts and tunnels can be made. Here is an example of how they say you can make Tunnels and Forts:
As you can see, you are not limited to what is on the box or pictured in the instructions, your imagination is the limit when you use and play with a Fort Magic Fort Building & Construction Toy Kit for Kids by Fort Magic! Storybooks help grow a child’s imagination and this kit is a perfect way for them to explore their imagination with life-sized play.

What are my final thoughts on a Fort Magic Fort Building & Construction Toy Kit for Kids?
There is a lot to say about the Fort Magic Fort Building & Construction Toy Kit for Kids by Fort Magic, but here are just some of the points that I love about the Fort Magic that I have not already touched on:
Creativity – The parts included in the building kit allow my children to create almost anything they want in a life-sized scale. From forts, to buildings, to cars, to fun characters, they are only limited by their imagination. Since we incorporate a lot of storybooks, my children have wonderful play sessions where they are acting out their storybooks and the Fort Magic Fort Building & Construction Toy Kit for Kids by Fort Magic is helping them bring their imaginations to life with life-sized play forts, structures, and creations.
Life-Sized Play – Because the Fort Magic Fort Building & Construction Toy Kit for Kids by Fort Magic is a physical toy with tangible parts, each creation is life-sized. This means that my children’s imagination is doing all the work from thinking, to their acting, to playing, and even some physical education time is included with each creation as they burn up their energy having a truly fun time with their creations.
Problem Solving – Each creation, whether it is from the Instruction Manual or from my children’s imagination, requires them to think about how the parts will be assembled. With the multitude of parts, connectors, pieces, and sizes, each creation is full of problem solving experience. The Fort Magic Fort Building & Construction Toy Kit for Kids by Fort Magic inspires them to use their math skills without even knowing it as they work on symmetry and measurements while trying to make their creations.
Longevity – The creations are only limited by the imagination of the user. We are still creating new things, and going back to older ones too in our house. It seems that every weekend there is a new adventure in our family room with our Fort Magic Fort Building & Construction Toy Kit for Kids by Fort Magic at the center.
Connection Remover – Not mentioned in the official parts list is the stuck piece/stick remover. This appears to be a silicone pad, similar to some jar openers, that is included in the box. This piece was a life saver because we experienced some parts that just did not want to come out after being loved. The parts are machined to work perfectly together, but sometimes they would get a little jammed and this pad was the perfect solution. Once the children, my husband or I simply placed the pad on the part and lightly pulled the pieces disassembled easily and were ready for the next build.
Heavy Duty Storage Bag – I know that I mentioned it before, but I really want to emphasize that the Fort Magic Fort Building & Construction Toy Kit for Kids by Fort Magic includes a heavy duty mesh bag that can contain all the parts, no matter the order they are placed in them. Even though the kit contains endless combinations, frames, and creative ideas, it does need to be stored somewhere when it is not being used (that has happened very little since we got ours by the way). Here you can see my son Beck starting to take apart their Dog Wash Creation and placing the parts into the mesh bag. The only additional thought on storage is that we put all the connectors, small straight pieces, and fabric clips into freezer bags so that we could get to them quicker when building our creations.
Some of the things that my children have to say about Fort Magic are:
After building more creations then I have shown above, here are some of the things my children are saying about Fort Magic:
- “Love mom, I won just like Brother Bear in the Great Big Race!” – said by Elizabeth, 7 years old, while spinning around, holding herself in a race car frame.
- “I like that when I play with it I can change it, fix it, or make something new whenever I want to.” – said by Beck, 9 years old, while adding a few more pieces to his pirate ship frame.
- “I love covering the forts because it makes playing with them more fun.” – Elizabeth, 7 years old
- “Too bad they don’t have enough parts in here to make it big enough for me to fit too or I don’t think I would get anything else done around the house this weekend.” – my hubby
- “We like playing in it and around it. It is just fun to build then play with.” – Beck, 9 years old and Elizabeth, 7 years old
- “I love that I have to build it and figure out which piece goes where to make what I want to play with.” – Beck, 9 years old
- “I love my Fort Magic because I can play with it and my dogs have just as much fun as I do.” – Elizabeth, 7 years old
