E.H.M. Monthly Meal Planner

Welcome back and thank you for taking a look at my 12th monthly installment of our family’s meal planning. I apologize that the meal planner is going up a smidge late in the day today for those of you that follow along with this planner. I guess I took today being the first day of Fall as meaning time to sleep in so I have been chasing the hours all day today 🙂  It is hard to believe that I have been planning my family’s meals a month a time for a year now!  As an added bonus, I am now starting to try out some of the recipes that are linked up to my Monday Thoughtful Spot Weekly Blog Hop.  There are a lot of great recipes out there, so when I see one I like I am going to add it into my monthly meal planner too. I am not going to guarantee that every recipe will make it in, but the ones that Beck, Elizabeth, my husband and I like will get a chance.

Also, please remember that I have also stopped putting veggies and fruits on meals as we are now living where we are going to do our best to get fresher veggies and fruits each week from a few local farms and even get some delivered each week.  Because everyone lives in different places I cannot truly tell what will be available everywhere based on the time of year and I would hate to have you all spending lots of money to get fruits and veggies that are out of season where you and, but are readily available where I am.  I am again including blank family shopping lists, as usual, and I have even updated and advanced the shopping lesson that I usually include.  I hope this new and improved meal planner can still benefit your family as it has mine.

Budget Note: This meal planner includes all of our family’s monthly menus for the next 4 weeks. We typically spend $300-$350 (not including sundry items) for one month of food for our family of four plus four dogs. Since we live very rural, if I do not continue to plan well in advance our family can end up spending more on the gasoline for our trip than we do for the food that we are actually there to purchase, especially with gas prices seemingly rising all the time around us.  When we do our shopping once a month it is a big haul, but we do pick up fresh fruits and vegetables from a local farmers weekly and get milk and dairy about every 2 weeks.

Make sure to check out my previous month’s meal planners for more tips and recipes for when it comes to monthly shopping! We are struggling with and trying to add more recipes that use the same general ingredients so it will give us a variety when we shop in bulk.  As you all probably know as well, there are great sites out there for couponing and daily deals, so you do not have to just shop at a big box retailer if you don’t want to.  Since we are also delighted and blessed to have our series called Freezer Cook Made Easy we are trying to include more multi-meal cooking opportunities, so stay tuned each month for that post.

I am happy to continue to share previous month’s meal planners.  I keep all the recipes, planners, and lessons on my blog, so please make sure to check out my Meal Planning Page for more tips and recipes for when it comes to monthly shopping from month’s past!

In this month’s free printable you will find my monthly meal planners complete with links, some of our family recipes that I compiled, a blank Costco shopping list, blank family shopping list, revised shopping lesson worksheets for educational purposes and more! Hopefully this will help make your planning a little easier, more fun or at the very least, give you some new recipes. I will share my monthly meal planners with you each month as I create them for our family. Enjoy!
