Welcome to my fifth month of my monthly meal planner! I enjoy hearing from many of you that share your story about how following my monthly meal planner saved your family money and helped to keep a fresh variety of meals flowing through your household. Your stories and sharing warm my heart! I am so glad that I this series continues to make your lives easier and helps to keep your pocket books a little heavier each month.
This meal planner includes all of our family’s monthly menus for the next 4 weeks. We typically spend $300-$350 (not including sundry items) for one month of food for our family of four plus three dogs. Since we live very rural, if I do not continue to plan well in advance our family can end up spending more on the gasoline for our trip than we do for the food that we are actually there to purchase, especially with gas prices seemingly rising all the time around us. When we do our shopping once a month it is a big haul, but we do pick up fresh fruits, vegetables and milk every 2 weeks (but we still budget this cost in our monthly budget).
This month we are trying a few new recipes. I have added a few more of my own and a few pork recipes as well. We had a blast with the multi-day meals last month, but this month I do not have any of them. Next month I plan to bring them back again and add a little twist of my own to them as well. Next month I will also be adding a new component too: an ingredient list. I plan to have Beck and Elizabeth help me compile all the ingredients into one big ingredient list to create our shopping lists as a math lesson. It should be fun to see them add up cups, teaspoons, pieces, and other ingredients. In next month’s planner, I will also include their compiled ingredients list to help you plan your shopping trips out too!
I am happy to continue to share previous month’s meal planners. I keep all the recipes, planners, and lessons on my blog, so please make sure to check out my Meal Planning Page for more tips and recipes for when it comes to monthly shopping from month’s past!
In this month’s free printable you will find my monthly meal planners complete with links, some of our family recipes that I typed up, a blank Costco shopping list, a shopping lesson form for educational purposes and so on! Hopefully this will help make your planning a little easier, more fun or at the very least, give you some new recipes. I will share my monthly meal planners with you each month as I create them for our family. Enjoy!
