As many of you may have read in my previous review last month, our family loved Ms. Wood’s Wild Art Adventures by Jan Wood Harris! We have continued using the book after our winter break. Our most recent lesson lead the kids deep into the rainforest to learn about and hot to draw toucans (which just so happens to Beck’s favorite bird). We took the opportunity to learn more about toucans by watching several videos online and reading a book we found at our local library.

This art instruction book is so easy to teach and the beautiful images are just captivating. I also love how art history is embedded in each art lesson. For our family, each art lesson tends to cover art, science (since we expand on topics that are being discussed), geography (we located various locations on the globe) and more! Here are some pictures of Beck and Elizabeth’s artwork from the toucan art lesson:

I just love how Beck added a baseball cap to his toucan!
I love watching that tongue stick out when she is concentrating so hard!
Elizabeth’s toucan, complete with a bow!

I am still awe struck at how this is the only art program that peaks Beck’s interest at all. To get two thumbs up from Beck really does speak volumes in my world. The kids and I are excited to move on to our next art lesson adventure with Ms. Wood’s Wild Art Adventures.
