If you have been reading my blog for any length of time now I know you have heard me say once or twice how much I LOVE our Family Time Fitness curriculum. As homeschooling families our days are jammed packed trying to teach our children all of their lessons, maintain our homes that serve as our classrooms and shuttle the children around to their enrichment activities. It is so easy at the end of a school day (whether that be 11:00am or 3:00pm) to push physical education off to the side and tell yourself “It’s OK, one day won’t hurt them and I’ll do extra tomorrow” or “They played on the playground and rode their bikes to their friends house”. I myself was in this world of denial several years ago. Many of you may not know this about me but I was an extremely athletic and an active child and adult. I ran every single day as an adult and played soccer until I was pregnant with Beck. When I was 6 ½ months pregnant I starting having kidney problems that still to this day have not been resolved. For over 8 years I have been on and off of bed rest, in a lot of pain on a daily basis and quite frankly it would be easy for me to use this as a crutch to hide behind so that I did not have to incorporate physical education into our homeschool. Nevertheless, my goal is to have my children just as active as I was and to make exercise second nature to them.
We have found that the Family Time Fitness curriculum is easy and so much fun! I myself am not an exercise video type of gal. I always liked to be out on the soccer field running around, throwing up some mean kicks in kickboxing or running off my stress. I will admit that I was hesitant to spend such a large amount on the physical education curriculum (as was my husband). Now, I think this curriculum is worth every penny and then some in my opinion (and YES, our family purchased this curriculum last winter at full value so I was not given a free product). I find it is like having a P.E. Teacher or Personal Trainer in your pocket, computer, phone or in my case, a binder, LOL. This is just like meal planning for your family, it takes all of the stress of trying to put something together because all you have to do is look at your curriculum to find out what today’s lesson or activities are. It’s like someone called Jiminy Cricket in for help at the Family Time Fitness company and somehow they managed to squeeze the little guy into everyone’s “shopping bag”. This curriculum can easily be tailored to do indoors or outdoors so the weather is not an issue anymore.
Did you know that as homeschooler’s most states require that your children have P.E. credits? Did you know that you also have to keep a log to turn into your state or have in case your family’s file is ever questioned or reviewed by your state? Take the worry and hard work out of the equation by purchasing a Family Time Fitness curriculum because it has record keeping components. We love our workbooks as well! It adds to our core science curriculum and is also incredibly handy to use when you have someone that is not feeling well or a child that physically cannot participate in activities. When your child completes work in the workbooks that also counts towards your child’s P.E. credits and grades. How great is that! It’s like extra credit!
