I wanted to share with everyone the curriculum choices for next school year that we have made for our daughter who will be entering 1st grade. This of course is not everything that she will be completing over the course of next school year but rather my overall game plan. I will be posting more links for every month in my Behind the Scenes series as I complete my lesson plans for the year (which I should have done by June). As many of you have noted our family is a HUGE believer of the McRuffy curriculum series!

1st Grade
2012-2013
Language Arts:Explode the Code series continued, McRuffy Language Arts grade 1 (includes all reading, spelling and language arts components) plus their handwriting curriculum, Spelling City, Poetry Speaks to Children.
Social Studies/History/Geography:yearlong study of the 50 states (I will be sharing this with everyone in the next month or two. I have been gathering resources and materials for the last year.), Story of the World Volume 1 and 2, and more to be added throughout the school year.
Science:McRuffy scienceScience Chapter Tests (with components that I create), Burgess Bird Book and components. Unit studies: rocks and minerals, lunar cycle, dinosaurs, continents and oceans, clouds, migrations, penguins, pelicans, wolves and more to be added throughout the school year.
Art:Storybook Artist, The Usborne Children’s Book of Art (with components that I create).
Foreign Language:Muzzy (Spanish)
P.E.:Family Time Fitness 4 Homeschool and various yoga programs as well as their group sports they are involved in.
