My Year of Learning with The Berenstain Bears Part 1 curriculum was such a HUGE hit in our household this past school year that I decided to make a Part 2 for the 2012 – 2013 school year. This curriculum took me well over 6 months to create, edit and finalize.
You will need 7 Berenstain Bears Books to complete this curriculum. My plan is to span each book into a lesson plan that is 10 days. In Part 2 the lesson plans will be more in depth and challenging (they are geared towards the 1st grade – 3rd grade level) so I have decided to teach 2 lessons a week instead of teaching one lesson each day as we did in Part 1(there are 35 weeks of lessons here). I have found too many times that if I “overbook” our supplemental learning it tends to put unnecessary stress on our day and distracts from our core curriculum.
Please keep in mind that in Part 1 I primarily focused on Social Study topics; whereas, in Part 2 I try to dabble in all of the core subjects. I did not create this to be used solely by itself or replace your core curriculum. I created both Part 1 and Part 2 to be supplemental to your learning studies. Each lesson is approximately 30-45 minutes in length, but it’s really up to you and your child.
I will be adding posts
to my blog during the school year to show how our family has used this curriculum. I will be offering a link up / Blog Hop on each blog post for you to share with everyone what you did with each book (I LOVE to hear from my readers!)
I sincerely hope that someone else enjoys this curriculum as much as our family will.
