Year of Learning Our Lessons with The Berenstain Bears

Year of Learning Our Lessons Part 1

I have been very hard at work the last few months working on this curriculum for next school year. I am very happy to say that it is finally finished and I would like to share it with everyone!

I created this homeschooling curriculum for the 2011 – 2012 school year for our children. You will need 16 Berenstain Bears Books to complete this curriculum (which are listed in the Table of Contents). My plan is to span each book into a lesson plan that is 10 days, or a 2-week period (so there are 32 weeks of lessons). I did take into account the time that our family takes off for Thanksgiving, Winter Break, Spring Break, etc.
My thought process in making this curriculum was to take each topic of the book and expand it using worksheets, projects and discussions into something children can relate to in the real world (by using our favorite furry family as our guides!) while having fun at the same time. The lesson plans can range from 20 minutes – 1 hour in length, it’s really up to you and your child.
I will be adding posts to my blog during the school year to show how our family has used this curriculum. I do intend to make a set similar to this one for the 2012 – 2013 school year with different Berenstain Bear books and topics.
I would also like to thank my wonderful husband for taking the time to give me an extra set of eyes for editing and spelling purposes.
I sincerely hope that someone else enjoys this curriculum as much as our family will.
